FAQ

How does Gestalt IT work?

We work with independent experts, bloggers, and writers to generate content focused on IT infrastructure topics. Many of our articles and posts are syndicated from the blogs of their authors, meaning that they select their best and most relevant work and transmit it to us using an RSS feed, just like Google Reader and other feed readers use. Posts are then formatted and edited for publication here.

What is the benefit to the reader?

Readers will get an edited view of the best content from the smartest folks in the IT infrastructure field. In this way, Gestalt IT serves as a filter, presenting key articles with no off-topic content or duplication.

Of course, readers will probably find that certain authors and blogs are especially interesting, so Gestalt IT can also help readers locate these sites. Each article includes a link to the writer’s home site or blog.

What is the benefit to the blogger?

Only 11% of the internet-using public uses an RSS feed reader. The vast majority of visitors to this and most other blogs comes from search engines and regular visitors. This makes it extremely difficult for a blogger to get exposure and readership. By serving as a central filter for content, Gestalt IT exposes bloggers to a wider audience than they would normally have access to.

Another benefit is freedom of content. Many bloggers like to write about a variety of topics, including personal, political, and entertainment posts that don’t fit the IT infrastructure audience. By syndicating only their technology posts, they gain freedom to post on these other topics on their own blogs as well without the risk of alienating their audience.

How does licensing and copyright work?

Writers agree to grant a license to Gestalt IT to publish their work. This license is non-exclusive, meaning they retain ownership and control and can reuse it as they like.
