Great post – timely for me especially. However, you dropped the “sudo” off of your commands about halfway through, starting with the fdisk command.
I also had to do a chmod 774 on the syslog directory to get this to work.
Another tip: for Windows guys like me, I'd use WinSCP to view the logs – just double-click the log file and it opens in a decent text viewer.
