There aren’t exactly a dearth of NetFlow analysis tools out there. When I see someone impressed by a new offering, I take interest. Dustin Beare had a look at what Kentik showed off at Networking Field Day from August. Their Data Explorer tool might be relatively new, but Dustin found it pretty powerful, allowing users to […]
Microsegmentation seems to be getting a lot of buzz in the virtual networking space, especially when it comes to network security. VMWare’s NSX leads the category, but we’re seeing a lot of competition from a variety of vendors. Each seems to have their own spin. Brandon Carroll is intrigued by Nuage’s approach. Whereas some other vendor […]
In a University setting, wireless networking generally doesn’t need more engineering resources, but simply time. Troubleshooting often requires manual collection from disparate sources, and on top of that, the student end users often aren’t that great at reporting issues to give a fuller picture. Wireless has been a mainstay of University life for years, and students […]
Determining the signal from noise in increasing complex networks is always a challenge, even when just trying to troubleshoot those networks. There are no shortage of tools for diagnosing network problems, but if those tools add to complexity and overhead, while being time consuming to boot, are they really allowing you to get to the […]
@TeridionNet, @Net_Introvert, #NFD12 comments: The underlying premise is that the Internet is full of traffic jams that are disruptive, and there’s nothing you can do about it. With many businesses moving to cloud-based services for things like e-mail, file storage, and other mission critical applications, we’ve moved from housed- in localized server rooms to massive datacenters […]
John Herbert of Moving Packets comments: I was first introduced to NetBeez at Networking Field Day 9, where I saw an interesting monitoring product using Raspberry Pi-based agents and a cloud-based management and reporting console. That was back in February 2015, but I met with NetBeez a second time at Networking Field Day 12 in September 2016. Eighteen months […]
Dustin Beare of Network Introvert comments: Another big reason that I even decided to start this was to make connections online that would then translate into things in the real world. I’ve chatted with people through Twitter that I’ve then met at Live, been able to join an online CCIE study group, and most recently I […]
