The root of Tech Field Day came from open-minded marketing and PR folks willing to connect with independent technical influencers on our own terms. The idea came from “blogger days” held by companies like HP. But the real inspiration came from the delegates themselves, who needed a way to connect with companies that respected their independence. Without the faith of both the sponsors and the delegates, we never would have gotten Tech Field Day off the ground!
Greg Ferro gives some important to advice to any established or aspiring influencer in the IT world. He encourages everyone to take a stab at blogging and to stick with it because, eventually, someone will notice your hard work and make your effort worth it.
If I had to guess what the next buzzword was going to be in enterprise IT, “intent driven” seems to be the new hotness. For one, it sounds a lot more humanistic than saying automation. But it also represents a larger shift of companies moving away from the idea of how something has to be done, and toward looking for ways to implement how they want a given IT goal to proceed.
But as much as “intent driven” products seems to be catching on, we often see companies struggling to identify what is the actual intent behind their solutions.
