As I’ve said before, data is currency. All companies using information systems collect data. Customer information, sales information, trending, etc. For years leveraging that data for business purposes has presented interesting challenges. Data modeling software has advanced significantly. Elk and Splunk are tools that can leverage customized reporting to gain insight into that data, however the compiling of diverse sets against that data has brought us to the world of Data Warehousing or Data Lakes. The concept of a Data Lake, or large diverse data depository, has traditionally been viewed as a distinct challenge. The diverse way in which the data is stored makes for reporting challenges, and the desire to generate these reports requires big horsepower on the storage side so that dynamic report generation doesn’t both drag down the rest of the environment, and can be quickly accessed.
The Data Hub
Enter Pure Storage, and the Data Hub. Using FlashBlade, the NFS and object-based architecture released a couple years back, Pure has created a highly available, massively powerful, and scalable architecture.
