Juniper Networks Introduces AI-Native EX4000 Series Switches

Juniper Networks expanded its wired access portfolio with the introduction of the new EX4000 Series Switches – a line designed to enhance network performance, security, and scalability for enterprises adopting Wi-Fi 7. These AI-native switches integrate Juniper’s Mist AI technology and offer Zero Trust security as well as energy-efficient networking.

One of the key features is its integration with Juniper’s Mist AI which offers predictive analytics and proactive issue resolution.

The Marvis Virtual Network Assistant and Marvis Minis provide real-time network insights, reducing manual troubleshooting efforts. Marvis identifies network issues before they impact users and delivers actionable recommendations, eliminating the need for constant manual monitoring and configuration, says the company.

Juniper’s AI-powered automation also automates routine tasks and enhances visibility through a unified dashboard, while the Mist AI platform provides an overview of network health.

“The EX4000 enables businesses to scale IT operations while reducing operational complexity,” said Christian Gilby, senior director of product marketing for AI-native networking at Juniper.

EX4000 is designed for high-density, multi-gigabit environments making it a scalable option for enterprises transitioning to Wi-Fi 7. The switches are available in various port configurations, including 12-, 24-, and 48-port models, and support 802.3bt PoE++ (up to 60W).

“With the growing adoption of Wi-Fi 7, organizations need network infrastructure that can scale without excessive costs,” Gilby said. “The EX4000 delivers flexible deployment options, ensuring businesses can right-size their network investments while maximizing performance.”

The virtual chassis design enables businesses to scale their infrastructure without requiring rewiring which can aid in simplifying network expansion as demand increases.

Gilby noted security remains a top priority for enterprises, which led to the EX4000 Series integrating Zero Trust principles through Juniper Mist Access Assurance. This technology automates identity verification, access validation, and policy enforcement to protect networks from unauthorized access.

“Zero Trust is built on the principle of ‘never trust, always verify,’ and Juniper Mist Access Assurance makes it easier for businesses to implement this framework at scale,” Gilby said.

He added AI-driven automation continuously monitors devices and users, enforcing strict access policies and identifying potential security risks.

The EX4000 ensures compliance with Zero Trust security measures by integrating with identity providers, endpoint security platforms, and threat intelligence solutions. Features such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), device compliance checks, and real-time threat detection help organizations safeguard sensitive data and maintain network integrity.

With sustainability also developing into a central consideration for organizations and IT teams, the EX4000 series incorporates features designed to reduce power consumption. For example, the switches automatically adjust fan speeds, deactivate unused PoE ports, and optimize energy usage based on network activity.

“Juniper’s AI-native intelligence enables organizations to optimize power consumption without compromising performance,” Gilby said. “By leveraging smart energy management and AI-powered analytics, businesses can align their IT operations with sustainability goals.”

The EX4000 also supports Juniper’s Wired Assurance and Premium Analytics, which provide insights into energy trends and network usage.

Gilby explained IT teams can use this data to implement advanced power-saving strategies and improve overall efficiency.

As network architects and engineers face growing challenges in managing complex IT environments, the EX4000 Series seeks to address these concerns by providing an AI-native platform that enhances scalability, security, and automation.

“Traditional networks often lack the agility needed for modern enterprise growth,” Gilby explained. “The EX4000 eliminates bottlenecks and simplifies network operations, allowing IT teams to scale dynamically while reducing downtime.”

Additionally, the platform’s unified management capabilities help businesses overcome operational silos, providing integration across LAN, WAN, and security infrastructures.

“The EX4000 represents the next generation of AI-powered networking,” Gilby said. “By delivering intelligent automation, enhanced security, and seamless scalability, we are enabling businesses to build resilient, high-performance networks for the future.”
