Last week was a big week for tech. Several companies made headlines with announcements of acquisitions and mergers.
After AMD, HPE is headed for a planned acquisition. The company announced on 15th that it is acquiring long-time partner, hybrid cloud management company, Morpheus Data.
Executive vice president and CTO, Fidelma Russo said that the acquisition marks a significant step for HPE as it will help launch GreenLake as “the de facto platform for innovation” in the hybrid space.
HPE’s flagship product, GreenLake, leverages Morpheus under the covers. It is the orchestration and automation solution that powers many of GreenLake’s offerings like ProLiant and Ezmeral. The acquisition will further enhance GreenLake’s capabilities expanding HPE’s footprints into the intelligent CloudOps market.
The buy will enable HPE to provide seamless provisioning and workload management across cloud environments. These will include brownfield public and private infrastructures. GreenLake will also inherit Morpheus’ cost-optimization and FinOps capabilities. This will bring to GreenLake customers control to monitor and optimize their cloud usage and costs.
The new capabilities will make GreenLake the first full-stack solution for hybrid cloud management. Morpheus will also be available to HPE customers as a separate product
The deal is expected to close by the fourth fiscal quarter of 2024.
