Quantum has thrown their hat into the software storage game. Their newest offering is Myriad, a flash-focused solution for file and object storage. The release includes a research paper that notes the need for software to be architected to address the increased performance provided by NVMe and RDMA. Myriad includes a 100G Ethernet fabric to interconnect the NVMe storage nodes with the system load balancers and control nodes. Stephen, what are your thoughts on Quantum Myriad?

Cisco announced that they’re picking up Lightspin for around $200 million. The Israeli-based security company focuses on posture management for cloud and containers. Lightspin came out of stealth in 2020 and had raised around $25 million from investors. This is the second security acquisition from Cisco in as many weeks as they picked up Valtix just a month ago at the beginning of March. Western Digital suffered from a big data breach over the weekend that is still causing issues for users. WD released information that attackers had accessed the WD network over a week ago and that the company was trying to ascertain the impact of the breach. Users of the MyCloud service can definitely tell the company about the impact because they’re currently unable to access any data stored on the personal cloud service, even if the hardware is located in their home. All services related to MyCloud are currently offline with no estimate on when they will be restored. Tom, what can WD do to resolve this issue?

13:35 | SIOS Adds Multitarget Replication with LifeKeeper
SIOS released LifeKeeper 9.7 last week with an exciting new feature for SAP HANA customers. LifeKeeper now has multitarget replication that allows for more options to keep data consistent. These new features allow for more nodes to be added to the replication as well as being able to restart replication from failed nodes as well as failback and resuming replication. LifeKeeper monitors the health of the whole cluster to ensure that replication is automatic. Stephen, you talked to SIOS about these new features. What do you think stands out?
