Intel Releases Ice Lake D Processors | 1:11
It’s new processor day! Intel is finally releasing the latest update in their Xeon D line, which carries the frosty code name of Ice Lake. This refresh has lots of goodies for the chip fans in the audience including support for PCIe Gen4, 100Gbps networking, and lots of accelerator options. The newest D-line processors have a new core architecture as well as optimizing memory and I/O access to speed up workloads.

Cloudflare Goes Anti-Phising for Area 1 | 4:18
If you’ve found yourself second-guessing the legitimacy of an email in your inbox you know that phishing is a major problem in the cybersecurity space. Cloudflare is looking to help you with your quandary by catching anti-phishing firm Area 1 in their acquisition net. Area 1 helps proactively identify phishing campaigns and ensure the suspect emails are never delivered to the users’ inbox. The acquisition comes after Cloudflare had been offering their own Advanced Email Security Suite since last year as well as being a customer of Area 1. The deal is valued at $162 million, with half of the purchase amount being Cloudflare stock.

Robin.io Flies into Rakuten Symphony’s Nest | 7:36
Robin.io is soaring into a new home after they were acquired this week by Rakuten Symphony. The Kubernetes storage startup was picked up by the Japanese version of Amazon for an undisclosed amount. Rakuten Symphony is the name for the mobile division of the larger Rakuten brand that was spun off in August of last year and has been focusing on 4G and 5G technology development. The focus that Robin.io has on 5G edge infrastructure and management makes them a very appealing pickup for the company.

Rubrik Puts Their Money Where Their Backups Are | 12:12

Rubrik is so confident in their Cloud Vault software and the capabilities for it to save you from ransomware outbreaks that they will warranty those archives up to $5 million if something can’t be recovered. Cloud Vault is built on Azure’s archival SaaS service. The new dollar amount augments the existing ransomware recovery warranty announced by Rubrik last year. Microsoft has invested in Rubrik and helped develop zero-trust anti-ransomware services as well.

Chinese Chipmaker Tries to Prove Innocence | 15:38

It’s time to go to trial for a Chinese chipmaker accused of stealing intellectual property. Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit Compnay is accused of stealing trade secrets from Micron. The theft occured three years ago and led to the company being sancioned by the US government by being placed on the Entity List. The technology at the heart of the case is DRAM chips that are in very short supply right now.

NVIDIA Gets Hacked in Graphical Fashion | 18:54

From investments being frozen to having the country disconnected from the SWIFT payment system, it seems like the Russian economy is being increasing isolated. One area that has sparked fierce conversation is around the use of cryptocurrency to avoid the harshest of penalties for the Russian government. Reports say that a digital ruble electronic currency option is on the table to help trade with other countries without exchanging into another currency first. Also noted is the high number of hacking crews located in and around Russia that could steal existing cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and use them to trade for goods.
