Huawei appears to be chilling in the storage market. Specfically they announced during MWC last week that they are developing a magneto-electric disk for cold storage. The hope is that the product will reduce costs compared to traditional hard drives and tape storage. The MED technology is apparently a first in the industry according to analysts.

5:25 – Ransomware Still Spreads after Lockbit Server Shutdown

LockBit may have been locked out by the federal governement but that isn’t stopping it from spreading. Two days after the takedown of the ransomware crew there were versions of the software being actively used to exploit a ConnectWise vulnerability in the wild. There is some question about whether or not the group doing the exploiting is the actual LockBit crew, as a version of their software was leaked back in 2022 and could be the basis for this latest round of attacks. Researchers are continuing to investigate to ensure proper attribution and also to confirm that LockBit has been truly taken offline.
