Stephen Foskett is interviewing Commvault management to learn the latest news at Commvault GO in Denver. Commvault recently acquired Hedvig, a software-defined storage company, and is enhancing its backup offerings with this highly-integrated scalable storage solution. The company also announced Metallic, a new software-as-a-service offering.
Stephen begins by discussing the Hedvig acquisition with Don Foster, Vice President of Storage Solutions at Commvault. As Foster explains, the Hedvig software-defined storage product enhances Commvault’s offerings and offers a bridge to the cloud. Commvault believes that this solution gives customers and partners new flexibility to purchase a simple, integrated storage solution.
Next, Stephen met with Rob Kaloustian, Senior Vice President, New Business Incubation, who was deeply involved in Commvault’s new Metallic software-as-a-service offering. Metallic gives Commvault an offering in the new SaaS backup market, and is launched as a new corporate entity with an entirely new go-to-market approach.
Stephen’s next conversation was with Ranga Rajagopalan. They discussed Commvault’s Activate product for data governance. After considering the need for data management, Ranga presents the Commvault solution, which has many use cases including eDiscovery.
Stephen also caught up with Commvault CMO Chris Powell to discuss the new marketing direction for Commvault. They discuss how the company’s focus has changed, becoming a data-oriented partner for customers rather than a simple backup software provider. They also talk about corporate responsibility and how Commvault is helping support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
