4:09 | Nutanix CIO Out Amid Operational Oddities

Nutanix CIO Wendy Pfeiffer has announced she is leaving. The news comes as Nutanix is wrapping up an internal probe around improper software use. The SEC notified the company that they were deficient in filing a new 10-Q as required by law, which is apparently being held up by this investigation. Per reports, the software being misused was only supposed to carry an evaluation license but was instead used for interoperability testing and proof-of-concept deployments. That extra incurred expense is the reason for the delayed 10-Q. Tom, what could happen here if things don’t get resolved?

The test covered all the failed drives they received in 2022. 80% of those drives came from Western Digital and Seagate and lasted, on average, 34 months before failure. The biggest issue according to Secure Data Recovery is the use of Shingled Magnetic Recording, or SMR. Tom, how can drives made in the last couple of years be less reliable?
