Pure Storage is moving to add more bits to your data center with FlashBlade//E. The lastest entry in the flagship line is based around the FlashBlade//S architecture that was released last year but more focused on capacity. The E model starts at 4 pedabytes of storage and is designed to help with global sustainability initiatives that Pure Storage is championing. Tom, you had a chance to talk to Pure a couple of weeks ago. What do you think about this new model?

3:30 | HPE Acquires Axis Security For SASE and SSE

HPE is making more moves in the networking space. They announced the acquisition of Axis Security, a firm focused on SASE and SSE offerings. Axis offers software solutions to help increase productivity for users whether they be remote or on-prem in the enterprise. Aruba CSO Jon Green said in an interview that Aruba is very focused on augmenting their zero trust network architecture offerings as well as providing comperable solutions to industry leaders such as ZScaler. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the acquisition is expected to close quickly. Chris, what’s your take on this big news?

Content Delivery titan Akamai is looking to augment their storage capabilites this week. They announced their intent to acquire Ondat. Ondat offers cloud-based storage that has a Kubernetes-based platform for stateful applications. Ondat provides persistent storage to a non-persistent world of microservices. The company is expected to be integrated into Akamai Connected Cloud, which is poised to compete in the cloud hosting market with other players focused on bespoke soltuions. Tom, why would Akamai want to roll their own storage?

The HPE acquisition team has sure been busy these past few weeks. They announced the acquition of Athonet, an Italy based private cellular technology provider. No surprise as private cellular continues to grow, expecting to increase to 1.6 billion by 2026.
